Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the NAMI Walk and Color Me Happy 5K. It is through the hard work of volunteers like you that we are able to provide a meaningful and fun experience. There are a number of ways that you can help; everything from set up to manning event day activities.

 

To sign-up to volunteer click on “Registration and Volunteer Sign-Up” tab below. Make sure you enter your t-shirt size to receive your free t-shirt! After registering you will receive a confirmation email that you have registered for and you will receive detailed instructions as the event approaches.

 

Ways to Volunteer:

 

 LOGISTICS: Assist logistics chair with race location and route set-up. Includes setting up and tearing down at location, marking route, distributing supplies to stations, and general coordination of all race day activities. 

 Information Booth: Assist with volunteer sign-in and out and answer any questions about the event, the path and NAMI.

REGISTRATION: Assist chair at check-in tables on race day to ensure a smooth transition to the start line.  Includes assisting with race day registration, pre-registered check-in, special assistance check-in (service animals, large teams, etc.), T-shirt/packet pickup, information tables, and accounting area.

T-shirt Pick Up: Distribute t-shirts to participants.

Water Stations: Pass out water at various water stations throughout the race path.

COLOR AMBASSADORS: Help “color participants happy” with food-grade color at stations along the route!

KIDZONE: Assist chair in providing safe activities for children in all areas of the Kidzone. (Parents responsible for supervision at all times). Includes face painting, games, and inflatables.Start/Finish Line

COURSE MONITORS: Assist chair in directing and cheering on walk/run participants along course ensuring everyone stays on the right track. 

Start/Finish Line: Help racers line up at the start line and pass out medals to all racers that finish the race. Also assist with timing and identify placement winners for additional awards.

We ask all volunteers to check-in at the Information Booth by 8:00 am and be in your designated place by 9:45 am. After you have completed your assignment at the event, we ask that you turn in any event materials and check out at the Information Booth. All volunteers are asked to stay through the entirety of their shift. We will sign off on volunteer hours so please bring any forms that need my signature but we will also have verification forms available on site as well.

 

Below is the event schedule for your reference. We ask that you be flexible and patient as some job assignments might be changed at last minute to accommodate needs of the day. Also, because more than half of our participants are individuals and families who have lost loved ones, we ask that you remember to be respectful at all times. Please remember to wear comfortable closed toed shoes only, sunscreen sunglasses and a hat.

11:00 a.m.       Prize drawing winners will be posted

12:15 a.m.       Walk Team Awards and

12:30 a.m.       Grand prize drawing will be announced.

1:00 a.m.       Tear Down
